Les Reines du Music Hall by Mario Monicelli
Phil Karlson / 1948 / USA / 60′
A melodrama and social satire, “The Queens of Music Hall” explores the world of cabaret through a mother-daughter duo grappling with the harsh realities of class relations, which love sometimes manages to overcome. It’s also an opportunity to discover Marilyn Monroe in her first role as an actress-singer, foreshadowing her future roles as gold diggers.
Free entry, subject to availability.
Presented by Florence Tissot, Exhibition Curator at the Cinémathèque Française.
